SMEA is offering college scholarships to eligible students who are seniors in high school, enrolling in college or a trade school or currently attending college or trade school and pursuing a degree or profession. High school seniors can receive one scholarship award during their senior year, which will be disbursed during their first quarter/semester in college/trade school. If they received a scholarship in high school, they must wait until they have completed a full quarter/semester of school to reapply. Students can apply for one scholarship per year and are eligible to receive up to one scholarship per calendar year, depending on availability and eligibility. The scholarship awards are valid for the upcoming quarter/semester of school only, and postponing attendance may result in the forfeiture of the scholarship award.

REQUIREMENTS: All eligible applicants must be a member of SMEA or a dependent family member of a SMEA member. Spouses of SMEA members may also apply. Scholarships are awarded based on the information furnished by the applicant and evaluation by the SMEA Scholarship Committee. A phone interview may be conducted at the discretion of the SMEA Scholarship Committee.

Applicants are REQUIRED to submit ALL of the following:

• SMEA Scholarship Application (complete and full information MUST BE PROVIDED when submitted).
• Students must carry a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
• Current official transcript must be provided. (Unofficial transcript will be accepted for the application but if you are awarded a scholarship you must submit an official transcript before your scholarship award will be sent).
• Students must be currently enrolled in college courses or trade school and provide proof of enrollment to receive their award.
• Current letter of recommendation by an instructor, advisor, employer, etc.
• Complete scholarship interview questions. (A phone interview may be conducted at the discretion of the SMEA Scholarship Committee).

NOTE: The SMEA Scholarship is an award designed to support students who demonstrate exceptional academic potential and financial need. With a limited number of scholarships available, the selection process is competitive, ensuring that only the most deserving candidates are chosen to receive this financial assistance. By carefully evaluating each applicant’s qualifications and determining who will benefit the most from the scholarship, the SMEA Scholarship committee aims to make a significant impact on the lives of those who are selected. While not all deserving applicants will be awarded scholarships, those who are chosen can expect to receive support that will help them achieve their academic and career goals.
